Fancy text on Instagram
- Bio and name: paste styled text into Edit profile. Your @username can only use plain letters, numbers, periods and underscores.
- Captions and comments: styled text works, but it can’t be searched — keep hashtags and keywords in plain text.
- Line breaks: Instagram sometimes removes empty lines. The line break tool keeps the spacing in your bio and captions.
- Stories and Reels: the text tool has its own fonts, but you can paste styled text into it too.

Some apps count a styled letter as two characters, so leave a little room.

How do I change the font in my Instagram bio?
Type your bio here, press Copy next to the style you like, then open Instagram, tap Edit profile, paste it into the Bio field and save.
Why does my Instagram font show as boxes?
Some older phones don’t have every symbol. Bold, italic, cursive and small caps work almost everywhere; styles marked “may show boxes” are riskier.
